Physical Education September 2021

The 2021-2022 school year is here!

I hope everyone enjoyed their summer vacation.  My favorite part of summer was enjoying the Summer Olympics held in Tokoyo!  We will be simulating some of the activities and sports from Tokyo and have our own Olympic trials.  Also, during the first few weeks of school we will review the rules associated with recess and the playground.  The first graders will learn how to play two-square and the second through fifth graders will play fish football, four-square and bosco ball.  In addition, we will be playing team building games that help us all get reacquainted.

I am looking forward to another great year!  Let’s go Irish!!

Physical Education October News

I can’t believe it’s October!   In October we always play the scary fun game called Haunted House.  This game is a variation of tag. The students walk around the haunted house, the indoor four square. I pick four ghosts to protect the bean bags (candy)  in the house.  If the students are tagged the players do three burpees and return to the game.

After the long break it has been necessary for us to discuss the rules and behavior expectations of the playground.  In class we are reviewing recess games like Four Square, Bosco Ball and Fish Football.   Students will learn the proper technique of overhand throwing and underhand tossing which will allow them to participate in the games.

Please have all uniform sweaters, sweatshirts and fleece jackets labeled with your child’s name.  Preschool and Kindergarten children please wear tennis shoes on gym day.

We are also working on hand eye coordination by tossing and bouncing balls.  1st through 5th Grades will be exploring the opportunities we will have with google classroom and my Bitmoji Classroom.  Most important, stay safe and I look forward to the time we will have together soon.
