Welcome to October in the Reading Center! I am looking forward to a fun month. September took us many places as we discussed the settings of several different stories. October will have us excited as we discuss a well known author and get excited for fall!
Grades 3-5 will be learning about author, Roald Dahl. We will find about his life and discuss different titles by him. Many students will be familiar with a few…..Matilda, The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and more! We will be reading Fantastic Mr. Fox. We will discuss the uniqueness of each character and their different points of view. For example, who is really the villain or villains in the story? Do any of the characters have positive traits? We will explore answers to these questions and others.
In grades K-2 we will be reading books that involve the changing of the seasons. We will discuss differences in Fiction and Nonfiction selections and discuss character traits as well. Some titles we will explore will be Old Bear, Leaf Man, Spookley the Square Pumpkin and several others.
At the end of the month, We will have our Fourth Annual “Scary Stories with Mrs. Price!” This is always so fun for all of us as we get excited for Halloween! Have a Happy October everyone!
