Family Friday: Smores Stem Challenge and Movie Night

Join us at 12:30 on Zoom!

S’mores Family STEM Challenge: Gather your supplies, you will need graham crackers, marshmallows, some chocolate, and skewers if you have some. Give each family member the same amount and challenge each other to complete two challenges.

  1. Make something that will hold four pieces of chocolate off the table.
  2. Make a tower.

Time to make the S’mores! Assemble your own.

  • To make in the oven, wrap each s’more in foil and pop them in the oven at 300 degrees for 5 minutes.
  • To make in the microwave, assemble s’more and place on microwave safe plate in center. Microwave for 10-15 seconds.
  • Weather permitting, build a real fire and roast the marshmallows outside!

Don’t shy away from activities like this S’mores Challenge that might fall and create a little frustration. The movie will ensure that the night ends in laughter. Consequently, learning to deal with a falling tower, or an idea that just doesn’t work in reality is good for kids. Especially when you are there to help them navigate these emotions.

Movie Night: Stream Open Season through your favorite streaming device (free on Netflix).
