Wow, boys and girls we have come to a close of this school year and I reflect upon all the great things we have learned in Music. I cannot help but to think about all the great things we have accomplished as different classes and have brought together as a whole school for liturgies in church, Halloween, Christmas, Catholic Schools Week, Patriotic singalongs and much more! You showed such enthusiasm and have done some really great singing and playing of instruments like the dulcimer, the drums, and xylophone! I can’t wait to see what next year will bring!

Please share with me any memories you have of music class this year and what made it so special? rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

Also, if you need to catch up on assignments please look at past days this week to catch a few assignments. I’ll also accept any practicing of instruments you’ve been working on for private lessons as an assignment.

Please keep practicing your music skills over the summer using some of those websites I had you use during the E-Learning. I’ll link them in below.

I wish you all a happy, healthy, and safe summer vacation! I cannot wait to be together again in the fall!

May all God’s blessings be with each of you,

Beach and Pool Day!

Preschool get moving like those fish! OR maybe not what fish really do 😉

Try this fun line-dancing cardio drumming. It looks like they used two buckets, but you can just stick to one! Have fun!

Send any performance pictures or video clips to me rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org! I miss you all!

Rainbow after the storm day! I thought today would be a great day to compare two great arrangements of one of my favorite songs, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Take a listen and see which one you like better, what the differences are, how they make you feel. Think about the music! Draw a picture of what the music speaks to you. Have fun! Send me any thoughts or your pictures to rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

What some people do is take songs and make them into their own arrangements to entertain people. This is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” and it is done in a different way with a ukulele.

This one comes from the movie, “The Wizard of Oz” and sung by Judy Garland.

Have a happy Wednesday!

Happy Friday! I know this is a “Catch-Up” Day, so if you haven’t done any of the challenges for music this week, check back on the other days and send me a picture or a short video clip!

Send work to rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

If you’ve done those challenges, TRY the https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Song-Maker/

You can change the instrument, make art or picture out of the colors and see what you come up with. It’s very free and creative making music. See what you can come up with. You might have to play around with it first before you come up with something you really like. Composers didn’t just come up with their symphonies on the first try! They had to work for it!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Good morning boys and girls!

Today will be about relaxing our minds and bodies while listening to some relaxing music.

I would like for you to find a partner in your house and listen to some relaxing music. Preferably instrumental music. You can pick the genre; Classical, Romantic, Jazz, Rock and Blues, something without words would work well.

While listening you have to mirror your partners moves, do this for 2-3 minutes and switch! I hope you have fun!

If I were picking a song it would be something such as this: (I guess it’s the Disney fanatic in me!)

You can snap a photo of you doing this and share with me! rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

(Remember you can always look back at the other challenges you may have missed this week to see if that interests you too!) It doesn’t have to be the activity for your day of specials.

I hope you have a great day!

Happy Wednesday everybody!

You may look at Monday or Tuesday for any music challenge you haven’t done or try this one out!

(With Parent Permission)

Go to your kitchen and find items to create a drum set. Remember you need items to make different pitches (high and low).

Here is a clip of what drums sound like: Ringo Starr from the Beatles was an incredible drummer who made it look so easy! Have listening to some of the live performances in this mix.

Have a drumming Wednesday!

Try something new Tuesday!

I found this really neat website that allows you to create harmony, beat box, and accapella (no instruments behind the vocals). Harmony is adding a second part to what your melody or first voice (the main line of music) is doing. When another voice comes in singing the same words, but different tune that is HARMONY! It meshes together beautifully to create another piece of music.

Linked for you: http://incredibox.com Play around with it. You first choose your song mix, then you will have 4 different colors that you drag up to dress the characters to their beat. You can add up to 7 different voices doing something different. You can download the app too if you are using an iPad.

So you can keep practicing for Sing Along Wednesday here is the link to He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands. **I will add in my specific ones during the sing along so pay attention 😉

You can send me a clip of you trying out the Incredibox by e-mailing me rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

I hope you have a great Tuesday!

May 11, 2020 Music

Good Monday morning everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating your mom and special mothers in your life!

This week we are going to focus on the word “world.” Our singalong song this week will focus on this song, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.” What does this mean to you? Who is the word He in the song? How does ‘He’ have the ‘whole’ World in his ‘hands?’ These may be questions I would ask when introducing this song. Who is important to you that you would want God to have in His hands?

Here is a link to practice the song. I will change up some of the people the ‘He has in His hands’ during the time so you will have to pay close attention 🙂

Music Challenge for Monday: Pick a country that you are interested in on the map and then choose a composer from that country. Find out about the composer and listen to one of the pieces of his/her music.

I hope you all have a great Monday!
