Good morning! I hope you were able to join us for the singalong this morning! If not, you can always go back and listen. One step further, have your own May Crowning ceremony with your family. If you have a statue of Mary or a picture crown her with flowers or place flowers near her.

Music Challenge for today is to find out your mom or dad’s favorite song growing up and listen to it. **Bonus points if you listen with them! Find out who the band or group was! Have fun!

Have a great Wednesday!

MARY, MARY (Lyrics)

Mary, Mary, thank you Mary,
for teaching people to pray to Jesus,
for teaching people to pray to Jesus,
as you prayed to Him.
Mary, Our Mother, Mary, Our Queen,
Mother of Jesus, pray for us.
Mary, Mary, thank you Mary,
for teaching people to love their children,
for teaching people to love their children,
as you loved Jesus.
Mary, Our Mother, Mary, Our Queen
Mother of Jesus, pray for us.

All the best,

May the 4th be with you!….and with your spirit! 🙂

Ok…so a little Star Wars humor and Catholic humor balled up in one day!

Today, I would like for you to enjoy the great music of John Williams. I am going to post the Imperial March from Star Wars. It is the Main Theme song. Throughout the whole movie each character has their own theme, these are called Leitmotifs. For example, Princess Leia has her theme, Yoda has a theme.

Pre-K-2

Find a beat stick, it could be a pool noodle, wooden spoon, maybe you have your own lightsaber at home! Anything to keep the beat.

Then same song, change your movements every time you hear the music change wave your arms up and down, bend your knees, side twist, superman, hop up and down, squat, march, move your arms in circles.

Grades 3-5

Below you will find a link to a lesson and Star Wars Rap worksheet.  Give yourself 4 beats to a measure. (Remember: 2 eighth notes=1 beat Try to use only quarter notes and eighth notes so not to confuse yourself! Quarter notes are only worth 1 beat!)

For fun! See if you can pick out the themes in this great rendition from the Piano Guys playing a cello!

Have a great day! Miss you all!

Good morning boys and girls! It is Talent Thursday! Show your talents to Mrs. Malinoski by sending her pictures of you performing or doing a special hobby! I know I’ve seen A LOT of talent these last few weeks! Thank you for sharing them with me!

Today’s Music Challenge is to look up other people’s talents. Choose an instrument you like or think you would like to play, and look up on Youtube someone playing that instrument. Find out what it sounds like, and what great practice can do for someone to be really great at that instrument!

Have a great day!

All the best,

Mrs. Haas

Happy Singalong Wednesday! I hope you were able to catch the SHGS Virtual Choir this morning for leading us in song and prayer. 10,000 Reasons/Bless the Lord is a beautiful song that we can sing and thank God for all the wonderful gifts He gives us each day! Through Him we can do all things!

It’s also, favorite stuffed animal/toy day. Your challenge for music today is to put on a talent show for them or with them. Let your imagination take the stage!:) What will you sing? What will you play? Maybe you will dance?

A lot of different people help to produce and make a show. Think about the MC- the person who hosts the show and introduces the acts, the performers, the people playing in the band, and the audience!

Have a great day boys and girls! Send me a picture or video clip if you like to share your work! rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

I miss you all!

Taco Tuesday! Your favorite recipe day…hmmm mine would have to be my cheesy potatoes! YUM!! Perfect with hamburgers or even baked ham!

Each day this week is a short activity. You can choose to do one each day or pick which ones you like! I hope you are still listening to good quality music and dancing, having fun, maybe you even have tried to learn a new instrument? Anyway, send me a picture or short video clip of you doing one of the activities this week.

Practice for our Singalong this week! “10,000 Reasons/Bless the Lord” We will have a special video for this! Be sure to tune in Wednesday’s Facebook Announcements!

COMPOSER TUESDAY! Choose a composer that starts with the first letter of your name. Listen to a piece of his/her music and find out one interesting fact about his or her life! You can use the http://classicsforkids.com  to choose a composer! **Remember that a composer is someone who writes music.

Example: I chose: Gioachino Rossini he wrote one of my favorite pieces that I use in Pre-K-2nd grade the William Tell Overture:Finale(sounds like horses in a race!) He is famous for operas and my very first opera I ever saw was one that he wrote, The Barber of Seville! (Figaro, Figaro, Figaro! now if you could only hear me singing that in my best opera voice 🙂

Have a blessed day everyone!

Happy Monday and Red and White Day!

This week you will find short activities with a small explanation. Pick one that you would like to send to me!

Practice for our Singalong this week! “10,000 Reasons/Bless the Lord” We will have a special video for this! Be sure to tune in Wednesday’s Facebook Announcements!

XYLOPHONES

Xylophones are part of the percussion family. They are what we call a “pitched percussion” instrument. It can keep beat just like the piano. We can play simple and very rhythmic melodies on the xylophone. You can listen to a clip of the xylophone here:

ACTIVITY: I would like for you to make a water and glass xylophone out of glasses and water at your home. Parents supervised and letting them know you are doing this. If you have more water in the glass you are going to discover lower tones, less water means higher tones (pitches). Also could depend on your glass! Use a spoon or wet your finger to play around with them! Have fun!

Feel free to share with me any of your creations or just send me a picture of you doing the activity! rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

I hope you have a great Monday!

Blessings,

Mrs. Haas
