Happy New Year!

I cannot believe it is 2020! In gym class we will be doing 20 reps of each exercise to celebrate the new year. For example, 20 burpees, 20 jumpin jacks and 20 push ups. We will also be discussing resolutions. Resolutions do not have to be about fitness. They can be as simple as saying something nice to someone different on a daily basis, or doing an extra chore around the house. We will also continue our basketball unit.

In January, we will continue with basketball drills and basketball games such as Monster Ball. Monster Ball is a game where each class will be split into 4 teams. Each team will stand in a corner of the basketball court. The first person from each team will roll a ball aiming for a bowling pin in the middle of the court. If a team knocks down the pin they will get to shoot at one end of the court while the other team passes 10 times to each player. The game lasts 4 rounds to see which team scores the most baskets.

For Catholic schools week, we will introduce new cooperative games. These games will help with teamwork, obeying the rules and build confidence.
