Songs:

Spring Life-
Letters W and X-
Dance-
Literacy
1.  (Use items in your E-Day Bag). Draw a picture of your favorite part of today’s book in your Composition Book and dictate a sentence about it to your parent (who can write it next to your picture).  Allow children to mimic your writing, if interested.
2.  W is For Worms-Sensory Letter Craft
Cut out a large brown W-you could use a grocery bag!
Set it out with a little wet cooked spaghetti, child scissors, a bowl of slightly thinned glue, and some “dirt”.
-Cut some of the pasta into “Worms”.
-Dip Worms into glue for a second and then drop them into the “dirt”.
-Arrange Worms onto the letter W and let dry.
-Sing your ABC’s pointing to the W when you get to it.
Math
1.  Count as high as you can and identify the foam numerals from 1-10 in your E-Day Bag.
2.  How Long is the Earthworm?
Parent fold a piece of white paper into 3 even horizontal sections.  Then draw a small worm face on the left side of each row.
Child dips their thumb in brown paint and stamps it aside the faces repeatedly, making their worm bodies as long as they’d like.  Allow to dry.
Count how many thumbprints long your 3 Worms are and parent prints that number by each worm.
Arts/Sciences
1.  WORM JAR
Purpose-To see how worms compost, dig tunnels, and mix soils.
Materials:
A quart size canning jar
A lid with holes
Dirt/garden soil/potting soil/lighter sand/mulch/hay/grass-ANY of these
Worms
First layer potting soil, garden soil, sand, mulch or whatever you have, and repeat the layers until the jar is full.
Next dig for worms and add them to the top of the jar.
Add some food for the worms to compost:  teeny tiny chopped carrots, celery, celery greens, apples, etc…
Slightly dampen the soil and put on lid.
Wrap a piece of dark paper or felt around the jar so the worms can work in darkness.
Every few days for the next several weeks check on the worm jar and see how your underground friends are doing——and if they are actually working.
Predict/observe the worms’ activities.
