SHGS’s Spring STEM club was a hit! Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Evans, and their students flipped bottles, created structures, and explored viscosity and density during this fun-filled week!
SHGS students have been devoted to serving others throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Service projects have included monthly Manna Meal food drives, the Clay County Christmas Project with CCHS, Pennies for People, benefiting the LoveYourBrain Foundation and Sojourner’s Shelter for Women and Families, and donation drives for the Pediatric Cancer Center at Women and Children’s Hospital and the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association Animal Shelter. This year, many of our service projects were student driven, with classes submitting proposals for service ideas.
Whether they are making original pieces of art for a show, creating hand print palms for Palm Sunday, planning a play to share a Greek myth with classmates, sharing music at a concert, or developing a board game based on a novel, SHGS students are always creating to learn and learning to create.
