Thursday, May 21, Wear beach & pool clothes to show you’re ready for summertime fun-in-the-sun.

Literacy
1.  (Use items in your E-Day Bag). Draw a picture of your favorite part of today’s book in your Composition Book and dictate a sentence about it to your parent (who can write it next to your picture).  Allow children to mimic your writing, if interested.
2.  Beach Ball Toss
Inflate a beach ball and print uppercase letters all over it with a permanent marker.
Gather everyone into a circle and someone tosses the ball.
Whoever catches it must shout out the letter which their right thumb  lands on.  Now toss to another and continue playing.
3.  “DEAR” time (drop everything and read) 
Gather awesome  beach and ocean life and other summertime books to read.
Tuck a beach towel under an umbrella somewhere fun and enjoy some quiet reading time.
 
Math
1.  Count as high as you can and identify the foam numerals from 1-10 in your E-Day Bag.
2.  Sea Shell Fun
Use your sea shell collection
-count them and lay shells beside the matching foam number from E-day bag
-sort them into groups of small, medium and large.
3.  Beach Sand Cloud Dough
Mix well:
1 cup flour
1 cup sand
4 tablespoons oil-baby, vegetable or coconut
Build sand castles like you’re at the beach!
Arts/Sciences
1.  Egg Carton Ocean
Paint the inside of a cardboard egg carton blue like the ocean.  Let dry.  Paint glitter glue overtop to sparkle like the sea.  Let dry.
Assemble an ocean scene to play with inside the egg crate.  You may glue down some items and leave others out to be handled.
Materials:
Tube of fun ocean animals, plastic gems, pebbles, tissue paper, seashells, seaweed & coral cut from colored foam.
Have fun playing with your ocean side scene!
