Star-of-the-Week is Katie Jane!
There will be no Star-of-the-Week again until Jan. 24.

No School MLK Day-Monday, January 17

No School Wednesday, Feb.2-Parent/Teacher Conferences.  These will be in person. Please call the office to schedule. Thx!  Preschool report card will be given to you then.

Theme/Letter-Winter/L. Look for the ‘L Bag’ to come home Monday. Please return Thursday. The following week we will review letters A-L (the week of Jan. 18) and continue assessments for report cards.
We will be listening to winter stories and making snow for our sensory boxes!  We are progressing well on pre-reading skills-expanding our listening vocabulary, letter recognition, letter sounds/formation, story comprehension, etc… Our Winter centers are new and fun!  You will see them at conferences .

Temperature for outside recess is 40 and above so please dress your child warmly.  If it is very close to that temperature we may play outdoors and enjoy some fresh air. Pre-K has the option of inside recess in the gym daily 10:30-11.

Theme/Letter-Jesus is our King/Kk

As we prepare for Christmas we will listen to holiday stories, sing, play, make gifts, learn, and have lots of fun with our friends.

Dec. 6 Star-of-the-Week is Charlie.
We will resume with a new star-of-the-week on the second week after we return from our holiday break.

This Friday, Dec. 10, we will be making Gingerbread Houses!  Thanks for the donations.

Theme/Letter-Baby Jesus/ Jj

We will hear Christmas stories, sing & dance, play, and craft, etc…with a hand-stuffed baby Jesus doll being our first creation. Our individual sensory boxes are filled with red and green rice, bells, ornaments, nativity finger puppets, and other items for open ended play. It’s fun to see and hear the children enjoy each other throughout the day!

Religion-God gave us the gift of light-our sun, stars and moon.

Pre-K Christmas Program-10 am Friday, December 17, in the Gym. Children can dress in holiday outfits. We have begun practicing songs already with Mrs. Haas!

Star-of-the-Week is Josie!  We will skip a week after Thanksgiving Break and begin again in December with Charlie.

 

Theme/Letter-Thanksgiving/Ii -I am thankful for…We will be making paper bag turkeys to be centerpieces for your tables!

Religion-The story of Thanksgiving is a story of gratitude. As you prepare with your family for Thanksgiving, remember and continue this tradition of help and cooperation begun on that first Thanksgiving.

We will explore more careers next week. Our centers include a zoo, a post office, a construction sight, an animal hospital, a home and a police and firefighter station. We will be baking bread and acting like chefs one day. We are learning that WE can be ANYTHING!

Theme/Letter-Community Helpers & Thanksgiving/Hh


As we learn about helping hands in our communities we will introduce Thanksgiving and being thankful for our many blessings. In our centers we will explore many familiar occupations and play with tools of that trade-construction worker, veterinarian, teacher, mechanic, police and firefighter, chef, doctor, etc…

Religion-We are thankful for our blessings. We can make the sign of the cross and pray.

ABC Scrapbooks-We have added Frankenstein class photos to our ‘F’ page and our modge  podge  painted sassafras leaf ghosts to our ‘G’ page. The books are becoming very cute!

Individual Sensory Boxes-These are theme related and we play in them during quiet times of the day. (After nap…) They are still filled  with feed corn and counters and measuring tools and now some fun Thanksgiving toys have been added.

No Star of the Week since we are so busy this week!   Cameron will be our Star week of Nov.1.

Theme/Letter-Ghosts & Goblins & Halloween/Gg

We are having lots of fun with our Halloween theme.  We will paint Sassafras leaves into ghosts, decorate pumpkins, cook apple sauce, create spooky gingerbread houses, paint sack puppets, play, write, listen to books & have lots more fun this week!

Field Trip to Capital Market is Monday. Please pack a lunch for a picnic in the prayer garden following our trip. We will leave school on foot at 9:30 with a police escort and return around 11. Rain date will be Tuesday.

Tuesday-The day after our trip we will decorate our pumpkins and cook apple sauce in the crock pot with our apples from the market.

Wednesday-Spooky Gingerbread House Building Day-Thank you for the supplies!

Halloween Parade/Party-Thursday, October 28.  Please send your child to school in their costume-on top of their clothes. Meet us outside near the playground to watch our Preschool parade and a song at 8:45.  Wear a mask and you’ll be instructed where to stand to watch. We will have our party inside following the parade.  Thank you for all the party donations!

Religion-To affirm the children’s anticipation of Halloween’s make-believe fun.

Bennett will be Star of the Week!

Theme/Letter-Frankenstein & Halloween/F

We have many fun activities planned for Halloween. We will make Frankenstein sun catchers, paint spooky frames for our class Halloween picture, mix paint into new colors, practice our fine motor skills by cutting and printing, hear fun stories, play, and lots more.  We are busy from the time we enter the classroom until our day is through and continually learning so much!   We have even been lucky enough to play outside with our friends from the other Pre K classes- just like old times!

Religion-God loves us.

Capital Market Field Trip-Oct.25, 9:30 am.  A note will be sent home next week with details of the Pre K walk to the market. ( all 3 classes). We will be escorted safely to and from by Charleston police and have a picnic lunch when we return.  We will purchase pumpkins and fruit while we are there!

Halloween Parade/Party will be Thursday, Oct.28.  Parents can meet us outside to watch the parade, but we will need to have our party inside without parents immediately following the parade. More info to come!

Theme/Letter-Dinosaurs and Eggs/Ee

We will continue this fun theme while learning lots more about prehistoric dinosaurs.  We are not only learning our letters, but printing whole words to label some of our artwork, too!
Our classroom is a very engaging place!
