Star-of-the-Week is Catherine.  She will bring in a poster, a Friday treat, a favorite book, a parent letter, and an item to share on different days during the week. Instructions will be in the Friday folder for all to preview for when it is your child’s turn.  It’s simple and fun!!

Theme/Letter-Dinosaurs & Eggs/D & E

Dinosaurs theme has lots of fun learning opportunities.  We make salt dough dinosaur eggs, stomp our dinosaurs feet in paint, use medicine droppers to melt our frozen dinosaur eggs then find a mini Dino in it, plus lots more!!  We read, craft, learn letter sounds and words and our room turns into a prehistoric land which makes for such fun play.  Be sure to discuss what happens each day at school with your child.  The children are always very proud of what we do!

Birthday Lunch is Wednesday.

Religion-Many people love and care for us.

Math/Science Sensory Boxes-Everyone has their own big plastic scrapbook box.  This month it is filled with seed corn, measuring tools, counting cubes, spoons, a 6 person family, horses, etc.  We explore using our senses and our imaginations to play!

Have a great weekend!

September 27-October 1

Thanks for all the birthday theme donations. Father Don dropped by the church prayer garden during our party and helped us sing Happy Birthday to the class twin pets – Petry and Horace. We learned that Fr. Don is also a twin!!  It was such a fun time. Thanks to Mrs. Carper for our treat bags, etc…. Mrs. Carper will be our Room Mom this year!  We look forward to lots more fun.

Theme/Letter-Corn & Fall/Cc

This week we will learn all about corn, shuck corn outside (fine motor), paint with the ears, bake corn bread in the crock pot, learn about farms, play with feed corn and animals in our sensory bins, do an Indian corn experiment, hear corn stories and lots more!

Letter C Bags will come home Monday and be due back Thursday.  They are so excited to share their bags!!

‘Star of the Week’ will begin the first full week of October.  We will do these in ABC order.  I will send home instructions in the Friday folder next week so you can anticipate what it entails.  It’s very simple, though.

Big Brown Craft Bags filled with fun stuff we have made came home Friday. You will get these every so often. We have all not completely memorized our birthdays and addresses, so continue to practice with your child. Sometimes they’d try so hard remembering, but they’d say their bday was the person who went before them when I’d be asking them all. Lol.

Have a great weekend!

September 20-24

Theme-Birthday’s.  We will continue this theme a second week  To help memorize our birthdays we made fun sensory bottles with our bdays ‘cricut cut’ and adhered to the outside of the bottles. Lots of stories and activities have helped us celebrate each other’s special days.

Petry and Horace Birthday Party-Your child is invited to our class pets’ birthday party at school next Friday. Petry and Horace are twin dinosaurs who live in our classroom all week and they watch our behaviors. Every Friday, they chose a friend who’s behaved very nicely all week to take them home for the weekend. It’s an honor to get to take them home.
Also-no gifts necessary for our party!

Letter-Bb.  The ‘B Bag’ will be homework which will be due back to school next Thursday.  We are learning how to print our letters correctly, the sounds they make, and words that begin with each letter.

Scholastic Book Order-There is a new book order form in your Friday folder  If desired, please place your order online within the next 2 weeks using the class code I’ve listed on the form.  We earn rewards for the orders you place and stock our library with new books from it.

Reading Center with Mrs. Price is every Wednesday.  Please keep your child’s reading center book in their book bag so they’ll be able to get a new one each week. It is supposed to ‘live’ in your child’s backpack per Mrs. Price’s request.

Star-of-the-Week-One child will be chosen each week to be the class star.  If your child is chosen, info will be sent home with instructions for the week.  Everyone will get a turn!

August 30-September 3

NEWSLETTERS which I send you through The Remind App take you to my class page, but it is the LIVE website and you can access the current day for lunch, etc…if you go back later to your Remind message.

Theme/Letter-All About Me/Singing the alphabet

We continue to practice class rules and behaviors and making green (good) choices.
The children are enjoying lots of books read aloud about feelings and situations they are encountering in Pre-K.  They are playing together wonderfully, already!  It takes a few weeks to adjust to school and get in the groove, but consistency is the key. Your child should be able to tell you our timeline of activities at school as we stick to a similar schedule each day, barring special classes which are different. This consistency gives the kids comfort in knowing what will happen here and thus ownership over their day. We are busy every second and it sure is fun!!
