Theme/Letters-Flowers & April/T & U (tadpoles and umbrellas)

We will learn about plant and tadpole life cycles and spring weather.  Our classroom has a Flower Shop in dramatic play and a pretend Garden in science/math. We will plant succulents and explore our theme with lots of fun learning experiences.

DONATE-Please send an empty plastic 2 liter soda bottle for terrariums we will make. Thank you.

Seuss Week

Theme/ Letter-Dr.Seuss/Spring/Letter/Ss/Printing our names and words, if applicable

Our Fairy Tale week was fabulous fun!
This week we will celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday and have fun with many Seuss books.  We will be trying green eggs (Green Eggs and Ham),sorting goldfish by color (1 Fish 2 Fish Red Fish Blue Fish), making: Things with blue hair and Cat stick puppets (The Cat in the Hat) & Fox bag puppets (Fox in Socks), plus lots more activities.
We will begin preparing our classroom for Springtime!

Seuss dress-up days are optional. A schedule for the week is in your Friday folder.

Math-Counting as high as we can, sorting, bar graphs, 1-1 Correspondence

Religion-We thank God for our voices which can sing.

Self-Help:  Please have your child practice putting on their shoes.  They are doing wonderful with their coats and backpacks.
Opening their lunch and snack items is an independence skill which is our goal  Thanks!

Theme/Letter-Knights & Princesses, Dragons  &  Castles, Fairy Tales/Qq and Rr

We will hear lots of great stories and do lots of fun crafts with this theme. Our classroom will have a castle built around our dramatic play area!  We will grow beanstalks, paint dragon eggs and dragon puppets, create princes and princesses shape art and much more.
Our centers are enriched with theme related books and toys. The children have been playing wonderfully together and forming great friendships.

Math-Counting as high as we can, Recognizing shapes and colors, Solving puzzles, Patterning, Recognizing numbers and 1-1 correspondence, & Sorting

 

Religion-Recognizing that our feelings are a gift from God and that we can work with and through our feelings. We can direct the children towards love and happiness.

Self-Help- zipping coats, putting away our belongings, mask etiquette, lunch independence, and cleaning up after selves

Catholic Schools Week, Feb 1-5

Community Service Projects:  PLEASE SEND Pet Supplies, Pennies and other coins, & Diapers. Refer to the school wide newsletter for details. We have decorated our door for the week!  We will be making valentines for Clay Health Care Center, thank you cards for doctors/nurses at CAMC and a spiritual bouquet for Bishop Brennan.  It will be an awesome week!

Theme/Letter-Catholic Schools Week and Valentines/P & Q

Our winter crafts will come home this week in a large grocery bag. We have had “snow” much fun in January.

Religion-God made us so we can touch and feel.  Sometimes we feel happy or sad.

Self-Help- Unpacking backpacks, putting on coats, wiping, opening snack containers, etc…

Valentine cards are due to school Monday, Feb. 8. Our exchange will be Friday. Remember, we are creating our valentines boxes at school with the items you’ve donated. Thank You. Happy Valentines!  ❤️❤️❤️

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be through Zoom on Feb. 3.  There will be no preschool that day. Please call the school to schedule your conference.

The children will be super excited for the season as our classroom becomes transformed into a Winter Wonderland.  We will hear stories and rhymes, sing songs, make gifts and crafts, and play in our centers.
Our Centers will include:

‘The North Pole’ with a Christmas village in trains/legos,

a ‘Home Sweet Home’ area in dramatic play with a fireplace, Christmas tree, and gingerbread cookies to bake,

a children’s Nativity Set in our ‘religious area’ in blocks,

AND

a ‘Letters to Santa’ writing station in our library center.

Math-counting to 20, patterns, puzzles, sequencing, recognizing numerals, one to one correspondence, sorting, shape recognition, etc…

Religion-Jesus is our King.

Self-Help-unpacking book bags, opening snack items, putting on and zipping coats, cleaning up toys and after self all throughout the day, learning our daily schedule, walking safely places, being kind to one another so he/she becomes a good friend to all

Theme/Letter-Thanksgiving/Hh and Ii

We will have more hands-on experiences to explore this holiday.  There’s still paper bag turkey centerpieces to make, handprint placemats, toilet tube Pilgrims, Native American clay necklaces and hopefully time for decorating turkey cookies!  We have been busy and having lots of fun!

Math-Counting, sorting, recognizing numerals, one to one correspondence

Religion-Thanksgiving is our “Thank You Day.”  We are thankful to God for families and friends and good things to eat and for all our blessings.

Self -Help-Dressing ourselves-shoes and coats included, opening our bookbags to retrieve snacks, etc…wiping, & cleaning up after play or lunch.  The children are progressing wonderfully.

As we begin to understand the concept of Thanksgiving, we will be given many opportunities to use our 5 senses to explore the concept concretely. We can use the sights, sounds and smells of Thanksgiving to help appreciate this holiday as a time to say ‘thank you’ to God.

Self-Help-Putting on coats and backpacks, Unzipping lunchboxes and backpacks, opening our food items, wearing a mask properly, resting quietly at nap

PLEASE swap out your child’s emergency outfit in their back pack  for a winter one.

DRESS your child in WARM COATS for outside play. HOODS are especially nice for rainy (Not stormy) days, as we try to get fresh air whenever the weather allows.

Thanks for the Halloween Party supplies. The children really enjoyed the day.
