Week 8: Letter Review- Mail the letter Ww with Mailbox Activity

 

Thursday- Camping Adventures

Reading: Flashlight reading! Read your favorite books using a flashlight.

Math: Write numbers on post-it notes and stick to the wall. Turn the lights off and use a flashlight to find and identify the numbers.

Letters & Sounds: 

Art: Paint the sky at night with Q-Tips and paint. If you don’t want to use paint, try drawing on black paper with white crayons or chalk.

Science: Go outside during the day. Draw and write what you see and hear. Then go outside at night. Draw and write what you see and hear. Is it the same or different?

Fine Motor: Turn off the lights and make shadow puppets with a flashlight. Put your hand in front of the flashlight and slowly move your fingers to make fun shadows.

STEM: Build a campfire for your campsite. Use rocks and sticks from your yard. Camp out and look at the stars. Tell stories by the fire.

Week 8: Letter Review- Mail letters Uu and Vv with Mailbox Activity

Wednesday- Nature Hunt

Reading: Read a book about nature. What are two new things that you discovered?

Art or Sensory: Make a pair of binoculars using a paper towel tube cut in half, or two toilet paper tubes. You will need a pair of scissors, string or yarn, and duct tape or paper tape.

Science: Go on a hike and look for birds using your binoculars. Hunt and catch bugs. Draw and write about what you see in your journal.

Letters & Sounds: Use items from nature (rocks, sticks, grass, pine cones, etc.) to make letters and write your name.

Math: Pick as many interesting leaves as you want, ranging from big to tiny, soft to coarse, and maybe some edible leaves. If your leaves are different colors, name the colors and then sort the leaves. Create patterns with your leaves, laying alternating leaves in a line. Group, sort, classify, and count the leaves.

Fine Motor: Play tic-tac-toe using sticks and rocks.

Week 8: Letter Review- Mail letters Ss and Tt with Mailbox Activity

 

Tuesday- Frogs and Ponds

Reading: Read a book about frogs or ponds. What other animals do you think live in or around a pond?

Letters & Sounds:  Spread letter cards (or these LilyPadLetters cards) out all over the ground, leaving good space between each. Leap frog over the letter and name it as you do so. If you get the letter right, you get to keep it. 

Math: Green and Speckled Play dough- use play dough and small beans to make and act out the Speckled Frog song!

Art or Sensory: Make a pond sensory bin. Fill a small container with pond animals such as frogs or rubber ducks, rocks, gems, sticks, and water or blue water beads. How does it feel? What can you do with it?

Science: Watch these videos to learn more about frogs! Do you know how to tell the difference between a frog and a toad? Tell an adult about two new things that you learned.

Monday- Camping

Reading: Read a book about camping or nature. Predict what is this book going to be about?

Fine Motor: Make a trail mix necklace. Lace circle cereal and mini pretzels on a string or pipe cleaner. Eat it when you are finished.

Letters & Sounds: Play letter or sound Dot It. Use something like mini marshmallows or chocolate chips to cover the spots.

Math: Go on a rock hunt. Sort the rocks by size using the sorting board. Which has the most/least?

Art or Sensory: Campfire art! Color the large coffee filter using yellow, orange, and red markers. Spray the filter with water and watch the colors blend together. What do you think will happen?

STEM: Put up a tent or fort outside. Camp, sing songs, and have a picnic inside your tent.

Thursday- Letters

Reading: Read or listen to an ABC book. Say the sound of each letter as you read.

Fine Motor: Make a writing tray with a cake pan. Put sprinkles or salt in the bottom. Using your finger, write letters in the tray.

Letters & Sounds: Sort the letters using the sorting boards. Cut out the small letters. Sort the letters and glue them to the boards.

Wednesday- Flowers

Reading: Read a book or listen to a book about plants. Is it a fiction or non-fiction book? How do you know?

Fine Motor: Collect leaves and petals. Use a hole punch to make holes in each one. Lace a piece of string through the holes.

Letters & Sounds: Make a list of the parts of plant (stem, leaf, flower). What is the first sound in each word?

Math: Collect leaves, petals, and stems/sticks. Sort the leaves various ways. Make shapes with the objects.

Art or Sensory: Paint with flowers. Put the flowers in paint and stamp them onto the paper.

Science: Dissect a plant. Pull a weed. Point out the parts of a plant and what each part does.

Reading: Read a book or listen to nursery rhymes. Make up actions and sing the nursery rhymes together.

Fine Motor: Itsy Bitsy Spider- Unwrap the yarn off the spider and wrap it back while singing the rhyme.

Letters & Sounds: Hey Diddle Diddle- Say words that rhyme with moon.

Math: Hickory Dickory Dock- Make a clock on the paper plate. Write the numbers from 1-12 around the edge.

Art or Sensory: Baa Baa Black Sheep- Make a sheep sensory bin. Place cotton balls, sheep/farm animals, and small containers.

STEM: Humpty Dumpty- Build a wall for Humpty Dumpty to sit on. Use the plastic egg to test the wall.
