1.  (Use items in your E-Day Bag). Draw a picture of your favorite part of today’s book in your Composition Book and dictate a sentence about it to your parent (who can write it next to your picture).  Allow children to mimic your writing, if interested.

2.  Beach Ball Toss

Inflate a beach ball and print uppercase letters all over it with a permanent marker.

Gather everyone into a circle and someone tosses the ball.

Whoever catches it must shout out the letter which their right thumb  lands on.  Now toss to another and continue playing.

3.  “DEAR” time (drop everything and read) 

Gather awesome  beach and ocean life and other summertime books to read.

Tuck a beach towel under an umbrella somewhere fun and enjoy some quiet reading time.

 

Math

1.  Count as high as you can and identify the foam numerals from 1-10 in your E-Day Bag.

2.  Sea Shell Fun

Use your sea shell collection

-count them and lay shells beside the matching foam number from E-day bag

-sort them into groups of small, medium and large.

3.  Beach Sand Cloud Dough

Mix well:

1 cup flour

1 cup sand

4 tablespoons oil-baby, vegetable or coconut

Build sand castles like you’re at the beach!

Arts/Sciences

1.  Egg Carton Ocean

Paint the inside of a cardboard egg carton blue like the ocean.  Let dry.  Paint glitter glue overtop to sparkle like the sea.  Let dry.

Assemble an ocean scene to play with inside the egg crate.  You may glue down some items and leave others out to be handled.

Materials:

Tube of fun ocean animals, plastic gems, pebbles, tissue paper, seashells, seaweed & coral cut from colored foam.

Have fun playing with your ocean side scene!

Math

2.  Cold S’mores 

(no bake-you be the chef!)

 

Ingredients:

Mix in bowl-

2 cups chocolate chips

2 cups Cool Whip, thawed

2 cups marshmallows

1 sleeve graham crackers, broken in half

Place g. crackers on pieces of Reynolds wrap and add a good dollop of s’mores mixture.  Place another graham on top, wrap up, and freeze 40 minutes – 1 hour.

Enjoy with a friend.

 

 

 

Arts/Sciences

1.  Construction Zone Sensory Play 

‘Crunchy Box’ (clean out your pantry while your child plays)

Use an empty storage bin and start dumping in stale crunchy food that was headed for the trash-noodles, croutons, cereals, crackers, etc…Add some play hammers and let your child go at it.

2.  Construction Zone

Use a sandbox for play or add sand, construction vehicles, mini street signs, rocks…to a bin.  Use goggles, toolbox, hard hat, cones, a level, yellow tape, etc…to add more fun to your play.

3.  Tractor Paint

Dip a tractor’s wheels in paint and roll it across a paper making tire tracks like a farmer would in the field.

Daily Book-Little Blue and Little Yellow

Literacy

1.  (Use items in your E-Day Bag). Draw a picture of your favorite part of today’s book in your Composition Book and dictate a sentence about it to your parent (who can write it next to your picture).  Allow children to mimic your writing, if interested.

2.  Colorful Yellow Collage

Talk about the word yellow and the sound you hear at the beginning of it.  Cut a large Y from yellow construction paper and glue yellow things on it.  You could use magazine pictures, or  yellow things like buttons, feathers, Pom poms, dandelions, etc…or things that begin with the sound of the letter Y like pieces of yarn.

Math

1.  Count as high as you can and identify the foam numerals from 1-10 in your E-Day Bag.

2.  Measure Your Height # 2

Use a piece of yarn to measure your height. Write today’s date and your height on a piece of masking tape and fold it around the yarn so the yarn is tucked inside of it.  Save this yarn.  You may tape it to the back of the 3D flower from earlier in the year which you will get in your keepsake bag.

We did this in August and displayed the flowers in the hallway with the yarn as the flower stems.  We compared the children’s heights.  Once you receive your 3D flower, you can see how much your child has physically grown this school year, from August to May.  Just as beautiful flowers grow.  Your 3 or 4 year old has also grown so much spiritually, socially & emotionally with our ECE 1 Class at Sacred ❤️!

Arts/Sciences

1.  Handprint Sunshine

Dip your child’s hand in yellow paint and stamp it around repeatedly in a large circle with fingers facing out and palms in to the center to shape a sun.

Caption-You Are My Sunshine, My Only Sunshine

2.  DIY Kool-Aid Puffy Paint  (blue + yellow = green experiment)

Bluepaint-1/4 cup flour, one packet blue Kool-Aid, 4 tablespoons warm water

Yellow paint- same as above, but with lemonade Koop-Aid

Put a little spot of each paint on white paper.

Ask what color they think they’ll become when they are mixed together?

Use a paint brush to find out the new color and have fun painting with these yummy smelling paints!

Spirit Week Dress up days:

Monday-ECE 1 wear yellow, the color of our classroom.  

Tuesday-Wear what you’d like to be when you grow up.

 Wednesday-Wear rainbow colors to represent hope for the beauty after the storm (the Covid storm).  

Thursday-Wear beach and pool clothes to show you are ready for some fun in the sun.  

Friday-Preschoolers wear ‘red and white’ to show school spirit on our last day.  Others will wear their uniforms.

2.  ABC Go Fish!

Cut a piece of paper into squares.  Write one letter on each square.  The first game you can use the letters in your child’s name.   Make 2 of each letter-2 green ‘a’ cards, 2 blue ‘z’ cards…use a different color for each set of letters.  Shuffle cards and deal 3 cards to your preschooler and 3 to yourself.  Take turns asking do you have a ?  And select a card you have in your hand.  If you find a pair, lay them down.  The game is done when all the cards are paired up.

3.  Book Talk

How do you think the other fish felt when Rainbow Fish wouldn’t play with them?  …when Rainbow Fish shared with the others?

Math

1.  Count as high as you can and identify the foam numerals from 1-10 in your E-Day Bag.

2.  Color Sorting

Use a cupcake tin and sort rainbow colored goldfish in the sections.  Count the number of each color goldfish.

Arts/Sciences

1.  Fish Pond Snack

Tint icing blue and spread on a round ritz cracker.  Stand goldfish up in the blue icing, like they are ‘swimming’ in a pond.  Enjoy.

2.  The Rainbow Fish

Materials:

Paper plate, wiggle eye, blue paint, 25 small 1.5 inch colored circles, glue stick, glitter

Paint back of plate blue and let dry.

Fold circles in half, rub with glue, glitter it

Cut triangle from right side of plate and glue on as a tail on left side

Cut 2 small fins and glue on fish

Glue on eye

Start in middle of plate and glue on fish scales in rows-the folded side will face the mouth

Overlap scales just a bit, and put 4-5 in each row and decrease the amount of scales as you do each row
