Bless the Lord/ 10,000 Reasons will be our sing-along song for next Wednesday! Below is the link to get familiar with it! It has the lyrics within the video. We will have surprise singers singing along with Mrs. Haas next week! Be sure to tune in to the Livestream on Facebook!

K-5 Students who have me on Friday!

For this week we are going to jump into movie music! The first week of May I always talk about one of the greats, John Williams as he wrote music for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, and much more! I don’t know about you, but I love to watch movies with my kids and I have gotten to enjoy quite a few since our time away. We watched the new movie “Onward,” “Frozen 2” (OF COURSE!), “Brave”, even some great TV shows like “Fancy Nancy,” “Daniel Tiger,” and “Sofia the First.”

I know all little kid shows of course, but in each of them they all have great little tunes of MUSIC!

ASSIGNMENT –>I would like ALL of you to try. Have someone record you doing some little ordinary day thing like taking a walk, riding a bike, playing in the backyard, doing chores, or something that you really like to do! and have them record you 30 secs at the most and add your favorite song that you think would go best with your movie.

Below you will find my favorite song and your Princess singing and loving teacher singing one of her favorites since she was a little girl! This assignment can be due to me anytime this week! I will put up short exercises for the rest of the week, but this will be the MAIN ASSIGNMENT! (All grades K-5!)

Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Enjoy!

Thrilling Thursday! After a wonderful Earth Day, provided that it was such a beautiful day we are on Thursday this week! I’ve kept the same assignment this week for all week if you are looking for some music to do the preschool lesson has changed for the day and can be for any grade!

Preschool: Let’s try creating a mini drum set in your house! Only with your parents permission can you use certain things! You can even find toys, buckets, balls, stools, you name it, that will make good sounds! What we are looking for are different sized objects in the house big, small, high pitch, low pitch! Have fun and create some music using these objects you find! Snap a photo or video of you playing if you like and send it to me rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org!

***I have absolutely loved the creativity coming from these mini movies you have created with special music! Some music has been instrumental, some have been your favorite songs, and some music has just been music that fits what you are doing! Brilliant work! Bravo!

Oh how I miss all of you and it’s really great to see that you are all jumping into these assignments! I am really enjoying all of these wonderful videos with music added to make for a perfect scene! One of these days you may be a cinematographer, a person who makes films, or a film composer (writes music for movies!). Fun to think about!

Preschool: It is Earth Day so I thought we could do this fun video about the Earth!

We’ve got the Whole World in Our Hands! (You can even place your family members names in the place of the words “whole world”)

Good morning! Check out the couple of fun lessons below! I hope you have a great Tuesday!

Preschool Story Read aloud with sticks or wooden spoons. Something to tap together and then hit on the floor. I love this story for a cold rainy day in April. This story is about getting caught in a rainstorm. You will need two tapping sticks. When the story says, “Tap, Tap” you will tap them together and when it says “Boom” you hit the floor (this depends on how many times it says ‘Boom.’ (Sometimes it only says it once, sometimes twice!) Hope you have fun!

Good morning and happy Friday!

We are going to finish the week out strong! I know you have enjoyed many fun activities from your teachers this week. Thank you so much for the responses I have gotten from many of you on doing multiple activities this week! Below I hope you find something that will get you up and moving this Friday!

Preschool

Cardio Drumming with Noodles or any stuffed/soft object. Even if it just gets you moving today!

Kindergarten-2nd Grade We’ve been doing new life activities this week. What better way to drum, sing, and exercise to something about a popular baby–> Baby Shark! You will need sticks of some sort, a ball, and a bucket! Have fun!

3rd-5th Grade

If you haven’t gotten a chance to do the Scavenger Hunt for musical items in your house please feel free to do that activity! If you already did that, practice the song of the week, try out the Baby Shark drumming. Any of these videos I post can be for any grade!

classicsforkids.com go to the lines and spaces game and see how many you can get right!

SONG of the WEEK! All the People Said Amen!

Please send me any videos or pictures if you like of you participating in any of the activities! I know you all are doing a great job of keeping up with your work! I hope you can still enjoy music through this e-learning experience!

Have a great weekend everyone!

All the best,

Mrs. Haas

April 16, 2020 Music

Hello everyone and happy Thursday! I hope you have been enjoying your week back from break!

We are working on Spring life in Music! Butterflies, bugs, caterpillars, trees, frogs, bees, rain. You name something in Spring we might be singing, playing music about it, or dancing to it!

Preschool: 5 Little Ducks…You will need 6  stuffed toys (1 Mama duck and 5 babies!) to sing and make music with today for our song. Each time you will have to take away a baby duck at the end you will need to bring them ALL back to the mommy! Try a couple times on each time you sing through see if you can make your voice start loud and then get softer each time a duck goes away. Then at the end your voice should go back to a FORTE (LOUD) voice to end!

Kindergarten-2nd Grade

Go on a Musical Scavenger Hunt in your house. 5 Points for each musical item you find!

Send me a picture of all the things! (rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org)

3rd-5th Grade Same thing– Go on a Musical Scavenger Hunt in your house, but see if you can play one of the things you find. Try it out even if you haven’t played it in awhile! 5 Points for each item you find!

**Song of the Week: “All the People Said Amen

Check in with music by sending pictures or videos/audio clips to rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

I look forward to seeing how your hunt goes!

Blessings always,

Mrs. Haas

Hello and happy Singalong Wednesday! I hope you had a great time singing along to one of our favorite SHGS tunes!

Today we have plenty of Spring music selections and happiness to look forward to even when it snowed for 45 minutes on Tuesday!

Preschool: Your song today will be If I were a Butterfly: You can sing along with the one that I made for Facebook Live so you can see the motions or you can listen here to the one below that has the other verse with elephant, kangaroo, and octopus added!

Kindergarten through 2nd

If you didn’t do the Butterfly worksheet yesterday see below. I also added a mini lesson to this page about the dotted rhythms. If you want to follow along with the lesson grab 4 cookies or some similar food or object you can split in half! Have fun!

PLEASE check the Lesson out!! —>  https://youtu.be/5GfmRMkzGjg

I’ve received some great videos so far and pictures of things that make them happy as they sing “And All the People said Amen” by Matt Maher Please continue to listen and practice!

3rd-5th Grade

Please check out the Spectogram if you haven’t gotten a chance. In the Chrome Music Lab there is a Spectogram. What is a spectogram you might ask? It is a way to see the waveforms of how loud a sound is and you are able to see it within that waveform by colors in this sense. You can create your own voice Spectogram and then check out different sounds and instruments. Let me know what you think. If you could record a video clip or audio clip of you trying that would be fun!

https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/Spectrogram/

***The K-2 lesson is a great review if you want to check out the lesson I’ve created before hand!

As always please send me any videos or pictures of you doing your activities. rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org

I would love to see how much fun you are having! Have a blessed day! I miss you all!

April 14, 2020 Music

Happy Easter! I hope you all had a restful week and were able to relax and enjoy your family! For the rest of the month of April in music you will notice we will do Spring activities. These will deal with “new life” that springs forth in Spring time. For example: Caterpillars become butterflies, seeds become beautiful flowers, the trees start to bud and produce their flowers. Our sing-along song this week is about a butterfly and all the wonderful things that God’s creation give us! See if you know that title!

Preschool: Your song this week is about a baby bumblebee. It is a repeating song, but I want you to pretend like you are doing all the things the song talks about (carry the bumblebee in your hands, ouch it stings you, squish it up in your hands, wipe it away , so forth!) Have fun and join in to sing with it! **Remember music gets louder each time goes from soft- loud Music Terms: Piano and Forte!

To make it more fun you can act it out with small stuffed toy!

Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

Use the following image to add together what the two note values are together. For example if it were 2 quarter notes it would 2 in the middle.

Quarter Note- 1; Half note 2, Whole Note- 4

Only do the first 6 and then check back on Wednesday for a mini lesson from Mrs. Haas on what the DOT means!

Use the Chrome Music Lab Rhythm section to create Rhythms

SONG OF THE WEEK!!! 1st-5th Grade “All the People Said Amen” is a wonderful song to sing after Easter! Look around you at your home what makes you the most happy and thankful? Listen and sing this awesome song, when you are finished snap a photo or video of something that makes you happy and thankful send to me if you like! **You can even send me a voice recording or video of you singing the refrain! This is a fun one to put your hands up for the refrain! rhaas@sacredheartgradeschool.org!

3rd- 5th Grade

In the Chrome Music Lab there is a Spectogram. What is a spectogram you might ask? It is a way to see the waveforms of how loud a sound is and you are able to see it within that waveform by colors in this sense.
